Titan’s Wall

タイタンの壁

Titan’s Wall was a tremendous storm which once bordered the eastern frontier of the Thirteen Lands.

In ages past, the people of the Thirteen Lands could look eastward and see that there was a blue horizon they had yet to reach. Although their river-going ships were not seaworthy enough for such a long journey, it was assumed that ships would one day advance to the point that they could sail across the Endless Ocean and see what lay on distant shores.

But on the dawn of 331 AC, a new storm brewed in the east. The Eastern Ocean was beset by thunder and high winds, from horizon to horizon, so that it was impossible for any ship to sail beyond it and return. This inexplicable storm, which would not subside for two hundred years, came to be referred to as Titan’s Wall. It so defined its era that the period is now known to us as the Age of Storms.

The First Expedition

When Titan’s Wall was in existence, only four people are said to have crossed the barrier and returned:

Tahaki the Bold is also thought to have passed through Titan’s Wall, but according to legend perished in battle and never returned to the Thirteen Lands.

The Disappearance of the Wall

In 520 AC, Titan’s Wall disappeared. The skies over the Eastern Ocean were clear for the first time in living memory. The people of the Thirteen Lands were shocked to discover that unfamiliar Isles of every shape and size had appeared in the east, as numerous as grains of sand.

A strange new land of mystery and opportunity had appeared — a New World. Thus ended the Age of Storms and began the Age of Pathfinders.
